Our Business

At Auto Specialty Appraisals, we base our work on current market values of vehicles. Although many appraisers use price guides to establish the value for a vehicle, this only reflects the value at the time the information was gathered, before the publication of the guide. This can give you an erroneous value. We do use guides in the process, but only as a guide, not as the final authority.

We stand behind our product, from the initial contact all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary. 

Through our 30 years of experience in the market, from completing automobile restoration, to settling losses for major insurance carriers, to evaluating material damage losses, we understand the process you are going through.

Who We Are

STEVEN HEYL

C.M.A., C.N.U.

Steven W. Heyl has over 20 years of experience in all aspects of the automotive industry. His wide range of experience gives him a deeper understanding of the industry, which is reflected in his work.

He was I-Car certified in 1994, 1996, 1997, 1999, and 2003.

I-Car emphasizes the cause and effect of damage as a result of a collision, including their proper repair.

In 1986, Steven graduated from Vale Tech in estimatics, and in 1997 he graduated in Tractor and Trailer estimating. Both these courses involve the basics of proper identification and evaluation of damages to vehicles involved in various types of losses.

In 2002 and 2007, he was ASE-certified. This involves passing a test and having at least two years experience in the automotive field.

He is knowledgeable in various estimating systems, including Pen Pro, Audatex Estimating, CCC Pathways Appraisal Solution, and various Mitchell International products.

Steven is a certified member of the International Automobile Appraisers Association and a Certified Master Appraiser.

In addition, Steven is a Certified Neutral Umpire, a member of the judging committee for the Muckenthaler Motor Car Festival, and an Expert Witness for the Superior Courts of Los Angeles and Orange Counties, California.
